After failed attempts to enroll into the Guitar class at UCSD Extension, Kiran and I finally decided to make use of the voucher and registered for Spanish instead. The class is fun, and I’ll learn a new language
Besides, in a place like San Diego, it helps to know a bit of Spanish (specially if you’re planning a trip to Mexico!)
Other than that, I’m also taking tennis lessons. Its a beginners class, which is good for me, coz I suck at tennis. Its better to start at the very basics and get them right even if it seems a bit trite at times. Our instructor(s) are nice and friendly, and we are only 3 guys in a class of 10 girls
But thats not all, I’m also doing a class on ‘core conditioning’—its a fitness class to strengthen the core muscles (everything between your ribs and hips). It felt a bit weird in the first class, but I liked it so much that I’m actually enjoying it now. But its painful at times (literally, I mean!)—they made me stretch muscles I didn’t even know existed!!
A good side-affect of all this is that now my days are long and busy, and I feel more productive. Plus, I now have plenty of reasons to get up and get moving on time in the morning (read ~9 AM)—otherwise usually my mornings would start at 10 and by the time I actually got around to doing anything, it would be almost noon.
It seems to me that I’m more productive when I’m busy and have my hands full.
