    Personally, I feel that this would be even better than setting up new IITs, as the value and recognition of the IITs remain in the new campuses. However, whether this would be sufficient to offset for the growing need of technology people in India, only time can tell.

    I hope so. I’m having a much harder time forming a concrete opinion on this though (in comparison, labelling arbit colleges as IIT was a clear no-go!). I mean, it seems like a good idea (and something thats inevitable) to expand the capacity of existing IITs. But do we have adequate faculty and resources to ensure timely completion? And perhaps eventually we *do* need more IITs.
