I think if India opens up the higher education sector and allow foreign universities to set up the shops in India, the faculty salaries will be automatically adjusted the international market price. See what happened to the Indian School of Business. Though the school is not a “recognized” MBA school as per the typical licence raj or baboo raj theory, the competition to get in and faculty salaries are a real reflection of what Indians prefer and what they can pay.
