SEARCH - A shining example of 'Think Global Act Local'

SEARCH represents the Society for Education, Action and Research founded by Drs. Abhay and Rani Bang, a highly qualified John Hopkins educated couple that decided to carry out community healthcare work in tribal Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. Around the early 90's Abhay and Rani identified one of the gravest health problems afflicting the tribal community was poor neonatal care and consequently very high infant mortality rates. Inaccessibility (poor transportation) to city hospitals was compounding the problem.
